May 13th -18th – Cornwall

220-09.JPGNotwithstanding the weather forecast, we decided to go to Cornwall for a few days camping in the Ruthern Valley near Bodmin. We drove down in terrible rain but the rain stopped and the sun shone whilst we put up our tent and got ourselves organised – it then poured with rain for the rest of the day. The camp site was brilliant but we must have chosen the boggiest pitch on the whole site. That said, the upside was we were in a little field on our own surrounded by trees with many birds some of which were quite tame – it seems to be a thing in Cornwall. We stayed for 5 nights and enjoyed a mixture of weather ranging from the very wet to sunny (well sunny for one afternoon and one day). Despite the rain, we visited the Eden Project (outstanding what they have done and well worth a visit if you are down that way), 2 National Trust sites as well as Pam and Neil (Annie’s sister and brother in law). Importantly, we also managed 5 good walks. As usual, we found the Cornish countryside and coast path to be delightful (if a little muddy in places). Our tent kept us very snug and dry and we were sorry to have to leave (especially as the weather was forecast to take a turn for the better).
