20 July – Lake District

150-Ullswater1.jpgAfter a few weeks of sorting ourselves out, we decided that we really had enjoyed the camping in South America. We decided to buy a small tent and see whether we enjoyed camping in the UK!!

We went to the Lake District for 3 nights last week and had a wonderful time in glorious weather. We stayed in a campsite overlooking Ullswater. We managed a couple of lovely walks although we did not climb up and down too much!! They all seemed to involve a pub at the half way point where a good lunch eliminated the need to cook in the evening.150-Ullswater.jpg

On the Saturday morning we packed up and drove to Glossop for a family party celebrating the 60th birthdays of Gerry’s cousin Martin and his wife Phillipa. Jenny and Mark were also there and our intention was that we should all camp at Buxton that night. However, the glorious weather had decided to take a pause and there were torrential localised showers. Annie and Gerry whimped out but Jenny and Mark did camp – but got up and left the camp site before 6:30am the next morning.

A lovely few days,
