20 June – Fairford

Sorry that the Blog has been quiet for so long but times have been eventful.

We were coming to the end of the first week in the USA having stayed in Manhattan Beach so that we could see the children and grandchildren every day when we heard that Annie’s mum had been taken into hospital. At first we were advised that there was no need to return and that she was comforatble. So we prepared to go to Palm Springs. Unfortuanetely, on Sunday 11 June, Annie’s mum took a turn for the worse so we decided to come back home early. We had to buy new tickets and had just confirmed a flight for 5 hours later when we heard that Annie’s mum had passed away. Margaret was 85 and had enjoyed a razor sharp mind until the end. We will miss her but at least Annie was able to talk to her an hour before she died.

We got back to the UK and Fairford on Monday 12 June. and have obviously been busy since then. Margaret’s funeral is this Thursday.

Although we had to return early, we both had had a wonderful experience in South America and had accomplished all that we set out to do apart from 2 weeks sunning ourselves in Palm Springs and a couple of days in Hong Kong. We shall put up some pictures of our trip within the next few days.
