30 April – Salta

We arrived at a place called Salta Rafting yesterday lunch time. As the name suggests, it was a camp site for people doing white water rafting and not much else so we took the opportunityto travel on to Salta (142 km) by mini bus. We arrived at about 6:45 and decided that we deserved a pampering session after 2 months on the road in tent, hostels or fairly basic hotels. So we booked ourselves into a luxury hotel – large room, balcony, tv, internet etc etc and a double jacuzzi!!!!!!

Last evening we took the advice of the hotel manager and went to a restaurant that catered for vegetarians – Annie was in heaven and Gerry not far behind!! Today, we have walked around Salta city visiting various churches and a museum devoted to 3 mumified children that were sacrificed several hundred years ago at the top of a volcano some 6700 metres high. Annie is now sitting by the pool reading and looking at the beautiful gardens.

Tomorrow is back to reality when we rejoin our truck companions for a night in a basic hotel here in Salta.
