2 April – Ushuaia

We have arrived at the end of the earth. The journey was long and the scenery varied between flat featureless land and mountains with beautiful forests full of many autumnal colours. We also crossed the Magellan Straits at 7am having bushcamped behind the ferry terminal – well cafes and shop. Pitching the tents in gale force winds was interesting but they all held up and the wind had dropped by the time we struck camp at 6 am. As we travelled through the hills towards our camp site in Ushuaia the rain started and it became very grey, cold windy and wet. Annie and I were dreading camping but we managed to upgrade to a 6 bedded dormitory with a heater, hot showers and a common room. We had a lovely meal cooked by the manager of the campsite. and a few glasses of wine before settling down to sleep.

This morning we woke to sunshine blue skys but it is very cold!
