15 March Bueonos Aires – Update
What a day we have had. We were returning from a restaurant at 10pm last night and while we were crossing a road Annie realised her handbag was open and her glasses and wallet were missing – a pickpocket had struck probably whilst we were waiting at the lights to cross. So the next couple of hours were spent ringing cardguard and American Express. Today ws spent going to 2 police stations until we found the right one to report the theft. They were all very helpful and did not seem surprised. We then went to American Express and picked up replacement travellers cheques. That all sound easy but it is now 5 pm and we started at 9 this morning. At least they did not use violence or get the passports. Nevertheless, we have learned a very expensive lesson – we had far too much cash on us. My next job is to report to the insurance company by e mail.
We will have to cram 2 days of sightseeing into tomorrow as well as do the shopping for our next cooking slot which comes a couple of days after leaving here.
