22 May Fairford

In the last 10 days Alexander and Oliver have managed some walks around Fairford and also some trips further afield. 203-1.JPG

Jo and the boys went with Grannie to the Cotswold Farm Park and had a great time. After feeding various goats, and lambs they found plenty to play with. Oliver was in heaven with big trucks to play on.185-2.JPG

Grannie and Grandpa also enjoyed a trip with Jo and the boys to Goodrich Castle. It was the first time that Alexander and Oliver had been to such an old building and they thoroughly enjoyed climbing over the ruins and up to the top of the keep. They both coped amazingly well with the steep spiral staircases set in the dark stone tower. We also walked around the moat and enjoyed climbing on the rocks although Grannie and Grandpa were frightened by the boys’ lack of fear. 200-3.JPG 200-4.JPG
After the castle Grandpa took the boys around the maze at Symonds Yat . Grandpa was relieved when the boys managed to find the way out! and snuck into a shop to treat the boys to an ice cream only to find Grannie and Jo enjoyed a relaxing cup of tea. We had a lovely day which will be remembered also for the smell of slurry that lingered on the shoes long after we had walked past the field!

200-5.JPG Grannie and Grandp also took the boys out for a trip on the Gloucetershire and Warwickshire Railway. 200-6.JPGThis was a trip the four of us had done last year and it was incredible just how much detail Alexander remembered. We had a great time and Alexander had his head out of the window for most of the journey including right through a tunnel that was over 600 yds long. All too soon our return journey from Toddington to Cheltenham was over but we then had some fun in the playground w€here Oliver decided to drive the train.

It is not clear who has had the most fun or been the most tired but I think all of us, old and young, have enjoyed the various trips.
