July 2012
July 2012 has been a good month for walking and visiting friends. The month started with the Winos’ annual champagne tasting at Freda and John Lang’s.
We were blessed with good weather and enjoyed sitting in the garden with the aircraft from the Royal International Air Tattoo performing overhead.
Annie and I also enjoyed two walks early in the month around Sherston and Naunton.
Both walks were thoroughly enjoyable with some memorable sights and colourful verges besides the paths.
At the end of the month, we travelled north visiting Chris and Vicki Oxley and their two young children. We had travelled around South America with Vicki and Chris in 2006 so it was good to catch up with them again.
We then continued North to Thorner near Leeds to stay with friends Bridget and David Lindley. We enjoyed a great weekend including dinner with sons Chris and wife Lindsay and Jonathan and fiancee Suzanne. We also visited Nostell Priory where David received several rounds of applause for playing a 19th century piano.
After a lovely, if not over indulgent weekend, we travelled further North for two days of walking. We were very lucky with the weather and enjoyed a walk starting and ending at Byland Abbey and then a walk along Rosedale. Both walks produced some memorable views. Unfortunately, it was soon time for us to return to Fairford.
All in all, July was a good month for walking and catching up with friends
