6th to 8th June 2012 – Farewells, Anxiety and then Relief

All too soon Jo and the children had to return to California. Gerry took them to Heathrow early on Wednesday morning and given the 8 hour time difference they were back in San Jose by mid afternoon. Todd met them at the airport and they all decided to go swimming!

Alexander350-2012052207a.JPG was diving at the deep end (9ft) and apparently had a seizure whilst under water. He was pulled to the surface by an adult swimmer and given CPR by Todd before being taken to hospital. Jo rang us just before 4 am (our time) to tell us of the accident. We then spent an anxious 14 hours until Jo phoned to give us an update. Annie was so relieved when she heard “Hello Grannie” and had a short chat with Alexander who had just eaten some ice cream. He spent a second day in intensive care before being allowed home. 24 hours later he was back to normal and raising funds for the epilepsy research foundation by selling homemade lemonade at a yard sale.

We are so grateful to the rescuer, Todd for CPR, the hospital for their efforts and all those who helped the family through a traumatic couple of days.
